At the start of quarantine, we all thought this would all be over quickly. Within a few months, everything would be back to normal, right? Well, five months in and it looks like we’re spending our entire summer indoors. As a mother, that means I’m in charge of entertainment and activities while we continue to quarantine. At first, I found this possibility overwhelming but after some time I’ve made it work with fun activities to give the kids things to do. No need for camp with these creative ways to entertain your kids. Read on to find out more!
Camp Games- Camps are closed this summer as we continue to socially distance, so why not plan fun camp games to entertain your kids at home? We ordered balloons off Amazon and had some water balloon fights in the backyard. Freeze Tag is family favorite along with Hide and Seek. Last Summer, we got an Intex 10 inch Round Pool and it’s forced us to spend plenty of time swimming in our yard. We’re getting our Vitamin D in on our L.O.L Surprise! Inflatable River Race Water Park Slide. Our kids love this outdoor toy. It keeps them entertained for hours when we’re enjoying fun in the sun!
Indoor Activities- We keep the house stocked with board games and puzzles so there’s always something on hand. My kids love to help me in the kitchen so that’s always a fun way to spend time together! We’re all about arts and crafts. The kids love making different animals with paper plates and googly eyes. We also have canvases for creative time—they love to paint. We plan family workouts to get some energy out when we need to!
Tips- I’ve found that creating a schedule during the summer is important for both the kids and me. That way, we all have time for each other while enjoying different activities. I like to plan ahead while having fun with them! My kids are such troopers, but I know this is hard for them, too! They’re just kids navigating this crazy time alongside us! Hope these tips helped!
